Dear Families,
We are really excited to welcome you to our Empire Eagle family!
In order to support the transition of your child(ren) to Kindergarten at Empire, we are inviting you to participate in our virtual Welcome to Kindergarten evening, on Wednesday, June 16th at either 4pm or 6pm. Please save this date!
In addition, students new to Kindergarten this year will receive a Welcome to Kindergarten bag, that includes some great information as well as some learning materials and resources that you can play and learn with throughout the summer!
Our Welcome to Kindergarten bag pick-up will occur on Monday, June 14th between 9am and 3pm. Please visit the main entrance (front door) of Empire at any time between 9 and 3 and ring the buzzer. One of our friendly staff will deliver your bag to you! If you are unable to come between 9am and 3pm on Monday, June 14th, please email the school and we will make alternate arrangements: emp@wrdsb.ca.
Attached is a great resource that we hope you take some time to review BEFORE our virtual event. It highlights the Kindergarten Program, what you need to know to be ready for the first day of school, and the supports and programs that are offered within our school board and community.
At the beginning of the slideshow, there is a link to a survey. In the WRDSB, we aim to foster positive relationships with students, families and caregivers. After all, we are partners in your child’s education! A part of this relationship-building is getting to know your child. Please complete the survey to help us get to know your child. This information will be shared with your child’s educators.
Finally, we are offering two “live” virtual events so that you can see some real, live staff, and hear more about
Empire. Each session will be the same, but we hope that you can find a time that works best for your family.

During our virtual Welcome to Kindergarten event, you will be introduced to our principal and some of our amazing Kindergarten educators. We will model some activities that use materials in your Welcome to Kindergarten bag. . . so have your playdough ready!
If you have any questions that are not addressed in the attached slides, we want to hear from you! Please let us know by completing this form: additional questions or emailing the school at emp@wrdsb.ca and we will try and answer them on the 16th in our sessions.
