Now that winter is upon us, we ask all parents to take note of the following reminders in order to ensure the safety of all our students:

  • Students who are being dropped off at school in the morning are NOT to be dropped off in our bus-loading/unloading zone in front of the school.
  • Students are NOT to be dropped off in the school parking lot at the beginning of the day, or picked up in the parking lot at the end of the day.  This becomes a high traffic area and student safety needs to be a priority.

DID YOU KNOW?

Empire is enrolled in the “Step-In” Program with the City of Waterloo, which promotes healthy-active schools in our region by promoting walking and rolling (scooters/bikes) to school.

Have you seen the blue walk-to-school signs?  A lifetime of activity starts on the way to school!  Join in the fun with your neighbours by walking to school, and help reduce traffic around the school at the same time! Why not park near the sign and walk the short distance with your child? It will only take about five minutes and the benefits are well worth it.

Stay tuned for some winter “walk-to-school” activities coming in the new year, including a “jingle bell walk” and a boot decorating contest!

Thank you for your support in making Empire PS a safe, caring and healthy school!
