The information pamphlet called “Doing Mathematics with Your Child” produced by the Ontario Ministry of Education contains ways to support your child’s learning and tips for parents when working with your child in math. The “Top Tips” include, “Build strong, positive attitudes about math” and “Begin with activities that meet your child’s level of mathematical understanding.” The guide states, “Before your child can learn mathematics, he or she needs to believe in his or her ability to do so.” The parent guide also contains sample activities, games or mathematical challenges for you to do with your child. The guide also provides sample web sites that are recommended. We hope this parent guide allows you to engage your child in exploring mathematical concepts with you!
