It’s hard to believe that October is almost over!  With that, we have several reminders about upcoming events for our Eagle families:

Halloween/Costume Day/Black and Orange Spirit Day- October 31

October 31 is a school day like any other, so families should feel that they can send their children to school without too much disruption. Children are welcome to wear costumes, but it is an option. We also invite students to wear orange or black.  For safety reasons, we discourage the wearing of masks and the carrying of plastic weapons. Weapons, real or fake, are not to be brought to school on any day.

Toasty Toes- Campaign ends November 1

Thank you for all the donations of new socks for our toasty toes campaign!  The last day to bring in socks is November 1. What a generous community we have!

Remembrance Day Assembly- November 9, 10:40-11:20am

As Remembrance Day is on a Sunday this year, our school will honour this day at a school-wide assembly on Friday, November 9.  Lest we forget.

Dance for Kindness- November 10, 12:30-2:30, Uptown Waterloo

Staff and students in our Kindness Club will be dancing for kindness at Waterloo Town Square on November 10.  Sign up online to participate or come and cheer on our group!

O Canada at Laurier Hockey Game, November 10, 7pm

Once again, some Empire students will be singing O Canada in the stands at the Laurier Golden Hawks hockey game on Saturday November 10. Tickets for adults are $5.  Kids are admitted for free. The game is at the Waterloo Recreation Complex.

Progress Reports- November 12

The Progress Report is designed to show the student’s development of Learning Skills and Work Habits, as well as a student’s general progress towards the achievement of Learning Goals/Curriculum Expectations in all subject areas.  Term 1 Reports in the new year will report on student achievement. Please contact your child’s teacher(s) with questions or concerns.

School Council- November 14, 6:30 pm in the Empire Library

All our welcome!  The agenda will be posted to our website shortly.

PD Day- November 16

No school for students this day as our staff will be working on our School Improvement Plan in the morning and then conducting interviews in the afternoon.
